Summary
Recently engaged in the Mediterranean in the operations of the international coalition against the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria, the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, nicknamed “42,000 tons of diplomacy”, is the vector of nuclear deterrence and the France’s main tool of maritime power. A team of journalists spent 15 days in total immersion aboard this veritable floating city of 2000 inhabitants. Life aboard the flagship of the French fleet is punctuated by the take-offs and landings of fighters, Rafales Marine and Hawkeye radar planes.
