Tokyo has changed. That’s the conclusion of Jake Adelstein, one of the country’s leading non-Japanese specialists. After being threatened by the yakuza because of his book “Tokyo Vice”, the investigative journalist decided to keep a low profile. He qualified as a private detective and now searches for missing persons. This time, he’s working on two cases: that of a 19-year-old girl, Shimizu, and that of a former university classmate who was involved with the yakuza. His investigation takes him back to the Tokyo he frequented when he first arrived in Japan, and from which he had promised himself to stay away.
